About Max
Max Barg is a fourth-generation wine professional based in New York City. A former engineer at a major tech company, Max left the corporate world to pursue a wine career. Now a Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 3 award winner, he has worked the floor at New York’s largest wine shop, as well as a Sommelier at a fine-dining restaurant.
In early 2025, Max turned his focus to developing the VintMax curriculum, offering practical, engaging wine education that builds both confidence and competence at the table. His corporate background informs the programs he’s developed: he understands how to make a fun and memorable employee experience, while also providing professional development through wine education.
What we’re pouring
Don’t know the difference between Bordeaux and Beaujolais? This introductory course will teach how to 1) taste and describe wine; 2) understand wine lists; and 3) appreciate food pairings by familiarizing participants with the most common wines found on New York wine lists. Curriculum can be tailored to the knowledge level of the participants.
